A multi-mode CMOS image sensor and a control method therefor. The sensor comprises an independent control area group, a peripheral control circuit, a section mode setting component and a section mode configuration section. The method comprises: dividing the independent control area group on the sensor into sections; setting a mode for each divided section; and configuring a control mode of the peripheral control circuit for a corresponding section according to the set mode. During imaging in a push-scan mode, regular sequential images with a fixed pixel difference can be generated at a high frequency, and the resolution and signal-to-noise ratio of the image can be effectively improved by means of performing pixel demixing or integration on the obtained image. Since a certain one or some pixel areas of the sensor may not be selected as a scan area, the design can avoid a pixel having a quality problem during hardware imaging, and increases the reliability of a device. By taking advantage of the characteristic that a plurality of channels of the device performing imaging on the same target a plurality of times within a very short period of time, moving target detection of optical camera imaging is realised.
