A clinical cortical electroencephalogram signal-based brain-machine interface system for controlling robotic hand movement and an application method thereof. The system comprises: a signal acquisition module, an electroencephalogram characteristic extraction and decoding module, a robotic hand control module, and an external module. The signal acquisition module preprocesses and outputs an acquired clinical electroencephalogram signal to the electroencephalogram characteristic extraction and decoding module. The electroencephalogram characteristic extraction and decoding module extracts a characteristic of the preprocessed electroencephalogram signal. The robotic hand control module classifies the characteristic of the preprocessed electroencephalogram signal and sends a classification to a robotic hand to complete gesture movement. The external module monitors and provides feedback about a task performed by the robotic hand. The system and method are based on the clinical cortical electroencephalogram signal that has higher time-space resolution and low invasiveness, thereby enabling high-precision online gesture control of a robotic hand.
