A database management system for smart terminal application software, the system comprising: a determination module (102) configured to determine whether an installation operation of application software is a first-time installation operation or a version update operation; a creation module (104) coupled to the determination module (102) and configured to create multiple array data items in a database if the installation operation of the application software is a first-time installation operation; a traversal module (106) coupled to the determination module (102) and configured to traverse array data items in the database if the installation operation of the application software is an version update operation; and an update module (108) coupled to the traversal module (106) and configured to update each of the array data items in the database according to the traversal of the traversal module (106). The database management system provided in the above solution enables effective creation or update of array data items in a database for smart terminal application software.
