A vehicle-mounted projection system, comprising: a video projection unit (10) for projecting and displaying video content; an environmental special effects unit (30) refitted from original assemblies of a vehicle and used for generating and outputting an environmental special effect in real time according to the video content projected and displayed by the video projection unit (10); and a vehicle-mounted central control unit (20) connected to the video projection unit (10) and the environmental special effects unit (30), and used for controlling the environmental special effects unit (30) so that same generates and outputs the environmental special effect in real time according to the video content projected and displayed by the video projection unit (10). Moreover, a projection method for the vehicle-mounted projection system, comprising: after a video projection unit (10) completes initialization and the projection and display of video content, a vehicle-mounted central control unit (20) controlling an environmental special effects unit (30) so that same generates and outputs an environmental special effect in real time according to the video content projected and displayed by the video projection unit (10).
