The present invention relates to a transporting robot and monitoring method thereof. A transfer robot according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a support member; a hand positioned on the support member so as to be movable forward and backward; and a controller for controlling the hand. If the controller determines an abnormality in a process of monitoring a state of the hand during driving of the hand, the controller re-detects abnormality by driving again with the driving speed of the hand reduced.
