The double cannula according to the invention serves to facilitate transmeniscal introduction of suture material to form an arthroscopic suture in the ruptured meniscus (3) in the human knee. The double cannula consists of an outer fixed cannula (1) and a second inner, telescoping cannula (2), thanks to which the meniscus (3) can be perforated in its full thickness in a facilitated manner and pierced for placement of a thread (4) or a Wire loop, then through a separate arthroscopic approach to insert a thread into the joint and pull it into the loop, by means of which the meniscal tear can be sutured after removal of the instrument.
