Electrometer (200) comprising: an amplifier (210) having an inverting input (211), a non-inverting input and an output; first and second resistive elements (231, 232) each having first and second ends, the first ends of the first and second resistive elements (231, 232) being electrically connected to the inverting input (211) of the amplifier (210) and the second end of the first resistive element (231) is electrically connected to the output of the amplifier (210); a buffer (220, 240) having a high impedance input and an output, the second end of the second resistive element (232) being connected to the input (221) of the buffer (220, 240); and one or more diodes (201, 202, 203, 204, 205) electrically connecting the output of the amplifier (210) and the second end of the second resistive element (232), the second resistive element (232) being parallel to first resistive element (231) is when all of the one or more diodes (201, 202, 203) are conductive.
