The invention relates to a component (100) comprising a carrier (1), a semiconductor body (2) and a mirror layer (3) therebetween, in which the semiconductor body has an active layer (23) which during operation of the device generates light is set up. The component has a main surface (101) which illuminates during operation of the component, wherein luminous regions of the main surface reproduce visually detectable information in the form of a pictogram (P), the pictogram having a contour in plan view of the main surface which at least partially passes through a contour of the mirror layer is defined, and wherein the device has an outline in plan view of the main surface, which differs from the contour of the icon. Furthermore, a method is specified, which is suitable for the production of such a device.
