An illumination device (D) comprises a first screen (E1) provided with a rear face (FR1), at least one reflector (Ri) capable of transferring photons to the rear face (FR1) of the first screen (E1) in order for them to contribute to a first illumination function, a support plate (CE) provided with at least one light source (SLi) capable of delivering the photons and comprising a front end (EV) terminating at a chosen distance from the first screen (E1) in order to allow the leakage of photons not contributing to the first illumination function into an area (Z) located after the first screen (E1) and in front of it (CE), and a second screen (E2) provided with a rear face (FR2) placed in front of the area (Z) and capable of being backlit by photons that have leaked into the area (Z) in order to carry out a second illumination function.
