The present invention relates to a method for the detection of pesticides in food products. More particularly, the present invention relates to the detection of pesticides in food products by means of liquid chromatography and wherein the method comprises the use of an extraction liquid comprising a mixture of water (H₂O), methanol (CH₃OH) and formic acid (CH₂O₂), and an a-polar solvent. Furthermore, the present invention relates to the method wherein an additional purification step is carried out by means of solid phase extraction under vacuum.
