To provide a dehydration aid capable of decreasing a water content in dehydrated cake and having a combustion improving effect.SOLUTION: The dehydration aid according to the present invention is for use in dehydrating sludge generated upon treating effluent. The dehydration aid has a mean particle diameter of 1 to 500 μm, and comprises a granular flammable resin. There is provided a method of dehydrating sludge, which is characterized by adding the dehydration aid into the sludge and thereafter mechanically dehydrating the sludge.
