To provide an estimation method of microbial activity, and the like capable of estimating the degree of activity of microorganisms attached to a reverse osmosis membrane with satisfactory reliability in water treatment in which membrane separation of water to be treated is performed by the reverse osmosis membrane.SOLUTION: An estimation method of microbial activity, and the like includes an estimation process of performing membrane separation of water to be treated in which a reagent of reacting with microorganisms and preparing a substance for detection is contained by means of a reverse osmosis membrane, at the same time, calculating a ratio of a concentration of the reagent in concentrated water after membrane separation and a concentration of the substance for detection and estimating a degree of activity of the microorganisms attached to the reverse osmosis membrane from a calculation value of the ratio. Therein, the estimation process has a calculation process of calculating each calculated value as each ratio of a concentration of the reagent and a concentration of the substance for detection respectively measured at a time interval and a determination process of determining a representative value which represents calculated values from a plurality of calculated values in a range of a variation width when the plurality of calculated values in which orders calculated at every time in the calculation process continue enter to the preset variation width and, in the estimation process, the degree of activity of the microorganisms attached to the reverse osmosis membrane is estimated based on the representative value.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
