PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a lithium manganese oxide-based lithium-adsorbing material that can suppress the elution of manganese without severely impairing the adsorption characteristics to lithium ions.SOLUTION: The method for producing a lithium-adsorbing material comprises the steps of: (1) adding a basic solution to a first aqueous solution including ions of metals so as to prepare a second aqueous solution including hydroxide oligomers of the metals; (2) adding particles of lithium manganese oxide to the second aqueous solution so as to prepare a suspension; (3) drying the suspension to form a dried product and (4) heating the dried product in an oxidative atmosphere. After the step (4), a particulate lithium-adsorbing material is produced and the particulate lithium-adsorbing material includes a lithium manganese oxide particle and a metal oxide covering at least a part of the surface of the lithium manganese oxide particle.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
