The present invention relates to a method and to a cooling tank (1) for cooling cast anode plates (3). The cooling tank (1) comprises a lifting means (8) for lifting a cast anode plate set (6) at a delivery end (5) of a cooling space (2) of the cooling tank (1) from the cooling space (2) of the cooling tank (1) into a delivery position. The lifting means (8) comprises a cradle means (9) for supporting a cast anode plate set (6). The cooling tank (1) comprises an arm arrangement (10) for supporting the cradle means (9) movable in a turning motion in relation to the cooling space (2) of the cooling tank (1) between a receiving position and an elevated position and a turning means (22) for moving the cradle means (9) in the turning motion between the receiving position and the elevated position of the turning motion.
