The present invention relates to the motor vehicle industry; in particular it relates to the seatbelts with which the vehicles are fitted, and to a system that remotely determines the use of the seatbelts. The system of the present invention is the only one that makes it possible to monitor the status of a seatbelt inside a vehicle, namely whether it is fastened or unfastened. Any change in the status of the seatbelt is reported in real time by interacting with GPS location systems that make it possible to report these changes to the platform that services them. The main difference is the universal nature of the application, since there are no restrictions concerning vehicle type, model or brand of the means of transport in which it is to be installed. Likewise, it is possible to install more than one system in a single vehicle.
