A growth hormone secretagogue for use in maintaining or increasing muscle mass to treat sarcopenia in a patient. wherein the growth hormone secretagogue is selected from: N- [1 (R) - [(1,2-Dihydro-1-methanesulfonyl spiro [3H-indole-3,4'-piperidine] -1'-yl) carbonyl] -2- (phenylmethyl-oxy) ethyl] -2-amino-2-methylpropanamide; and N- [1 (R) - [(1,2-Dihydro-1-methanesulfonyl spiro [3H-indole-3,4'-piperidine] -1'-yl) carbonyl] -2- (phenylmethyl-oxy) ethyl] -2- amino-2-salt of methylpropanamide mesylate.
