HIGH PURITY ALPHA TOCOTRIENOL QUINONE AND PROCESSES FOR PREPARING SAME

The present disclosure provides a high purity alpha tocotrienol quinone and aprocessfor preparing same. The process can be performed without chromatography, orwith minimaluse of chromatography, on the alpha tocotrienol precursor, and is economicallyfeasible on acommercial scale. Compositions containing high purity alpha tocotrienolquinone are alsodisclosed, in particular, compositions containing 2-(3-hydroxy-3,7,11,15-tetramethylhexadeca-6,10,14-trienyl)-3,5,6-trimethylcyclohexa-2,5-diene-1,4-dione having apurity of at least 90%, where 2-((6E,10E)-3R-hydroxy-3,7,11,15-tetramethylhexadeca-6,10,14-trienyl)-3,5,6-trimethylcyclohexa-2,5-diene-1,4-dione represents atleast 90% of the2-(3-hydroxy-3,7,11,15-tetramethylhexadeca-6,10,14-trienyl)-3,5,6-trimethylcyclohexa-2,5-diene-1,4-dione material present in the composition.
