This superconducting wire material is provided with: a first wire material comprising a first superconducting material layer having a first main surface; a second wire material comprising a second superconducting material layer having a second main surface; a third wire material comprising a third superconducting material layer having a third main surface; a first superconducting material joining layer for joining the first main surface and the second main surface; and a second superconducting material joining layer for joining the second main surface and the third main surface. The first wire material has a first end face. The third wire material has a second end face. The second end face faces the first end face with a gap between the second end face and the first end face. This gap is 10 nm to less than 1 mm.
