Provided are a trending topic detection method, apparatus and device, and a medium, which are applicable to the technical field of the Internet. The method comprises: continuously acquiring topic data in an information sharing platform; when each piece of topic data is acquired, carrying out matching processing on the topic data and each word in a pre-set word library to output a plurality of word segmentation results; outputting a plurality of segmented words included in the word segmentation result with the highest matching degree as keywords corresponding to the topic data; updating, according to the keywords, summary information associated with the topic data; and presenting the keywords and the summary information so that a user learns about a trending topic at a current moment. By means of the solution, keywords corresponding to topic data can be determined, and summary information can be updated based on the keywords, such that a user can quickly learn about a trending topic on the information sharing platform according to the output keywords and the summary information.
