One aspect of the present invention is a force measurement method comprising: a first acquisition step for acquiring first data indicating time-varying change in position of a cargo during a period wherein cargo displacement over unit time is substantially constant, from among the data included in time course data indicating the trajectory of cargo movement acquired by a non-invasive means; a fluctuation value calculation step for calculating, on the basis of a first probability distribution, a fluctuation value proportional to a force applied to the cargo by a motor protein transporting the cargo, the first probability distribution being a probability distribution based on the first data and indicating the distribution of the probability that the change in a prescribed position of the cargo over unit time is a prescribed amount; and a force calculation step for calculating the force on the basis of the calculated fluctuation value.
