The invention relates to a method for determining the value of at least one vehicle parameter of a vehicle data set of a vehicle, a sub-component or a sub-system of a vehicle, as well as the use of a determined vehicle parameter for parameterising a simulation model (23) of a simulation (6) for carrying out a test on a test bench (10). For this purpose, from the vehicle parameters of the vehicle data set, a first number of parameters are established as input data or input parameters (Ei) in a task-specific manner, and a second number of parameters, preferably a complementary number to the first number, are established as output data or output parameters (Aj), and a vehicle database (1) is used, in which respective values of the input parameters (Ei) and values of the output parameters (Aj) are stored, in the form of vehicle data sets, for a number of validated vehicles that is sufficient for the purpose of model formation, in order to identify a dependence of the output parameters (Aj) on the number of the input parameters (Ei) in the form of a number of mapping models (Mx) (system identification, model formation), and the value of the number of the output parameters (Aj) is determined as the parameter of the vehicle data set based on said number of mapping models (Mx) and predefined values of the input parameters (Ei).
