The present invention provides a device and a method for testing a riverside/Irvine operating system (RIOS)-based embedded system software, which can perform a testing task and a monitoring task without affecting pure application tasks. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the method for testing an RIOS-based embedded system software comprises the following steps of: generating the testing and monitoring tasks for testing and monitoring an application; generating and performing the application task for executing the application; determining whether all the application tasks are performed; and performing the testing and monitoring tasks when the all application tasks are performed.
