The present application relates to the field of plant breeding, in particular the field of watermelon breeding. Doubled watermelon plants (and seeds from which such plants can grow) are provided which produce small diploid red watermelon fruit. Also provided are small diploid watermelons with an average weight of less than 1.8 kg.
