The present invention relates to a novel use of a compound exhibiting an anti-virulence activity and a biofilm formation inhibitory effect, and more particularly, to a novel use of a compound having an outer membrane protein A membrane protein A, OmpA) by inhibiting the gene promoter of the compound of formula (I). The compound of formula (I) of the present invention inhibits the expression of the gene and protein of the outer membrane protein A, which is a pathogenic protein, without showing a direct bactericidal effect against the pathogenic bacteria, and thus the anti-virulence agent . In addition, it can inhibit the formation of a biofilm closely related to the expression of OmpA, and thus can be effectively used for the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases caused by infection with pathogenic bacteria.
