An example includes an annular magnet assembly for use in determining a rotational angle of a rotatable shaft, wherein the annular magnet assembly is configured to be connected to or formed as part of the rotatable shaft for rotation with the rotatable shaft about an axis of rotation A magnet assembly includes a first annular portion having a first wedge surface, the first annular portion being magnetized in a first direction and a second annular portion diametrically opposite the first annular portion, the second annular portion having a second wedge surface, the first wedge surface and the second wedge surface forms a wedge in a sensor-facing end of the annular magnet assembly, and wherein the second ring portion is magnetized in a second direction that is within a threshold angle of the first direction and extends from the first Ri ment, wherein the sensor-facing end is axially opposite a radial end of the annular magnet assembly, the annular magnet assembly having a single piece of material having a sectional thickness corresponding to an axial distance between the radial end of the annular magnet assembly and a base of the wedge.
