To provide a method for suppressing growth of Bacillus cereus and a packaging container for maintaining freshness of vegetables and fruits using the method, and in which the growth of germs including Bacillus cereus can extremely effectively be suppressed, and is suitable for maintaining the freshness of contents, such as cut vegetables, that are susceptible to germs.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for suppressing growth of Bacillus cereus in packaging container, and in which, for the case of maintaining at a condition of 35 ± 2°C, the internal carbon dioxide concentration 24 hours after sealing of the packaging container is 20.0 vol.% or more.SELECTED DRAWING: None
