A cell-based screening method is provided. Screening methods aim at identifying drugs for the treatment of cancers characterized by cells having an over-activated signaling pathway in combination medicaments with inhibitors of each over-activated signaling pathway . In particular, the level of expression of SOX2 is determined to identify compounds that prevent the development of resistance to inhibitors of the MAPK and EGFR pathways. [Selection diagram] None
