Capacitive touch sensing devices include a plurality of electrodes disposed within a touch sensitive viewing area. A spaced apart conductive first electrode extends along a first direction and a spaced apart conductive second electrode extends along a different second direction. A plurality of electrically insulated first polygonal islands are disposed between each pair of adjacent first electrodes, and an electrical connection is provided between each pair of adjacent second electrodes. The conductive second polygonal island that is insulated is disposed. When viewed in a plan view, except for a plurality of discrete open areas that are spaced apart, the touch-sensitive viewing area is at least one of the first electrode, the second electrode, the first island, and the second island. Covered by one, each open area is at at least one intersection of a first polygonal island and a second polygonal island.
