The invention relates to the field of technology for the production of functional coatings by the method of electrospark processing and can be used for applying restorative and protective wear-resistant coatings in engineering and repair production. The technical problem solved by the invention is to develop a method and apparatus for intensifying the process of applying thick coatings by combining in one combined cycle the operations of alloying and melting the surface with an ultrasonic frequency, achieved by the fact that for applying electric spark coatings a device is used - an electrode assembly containing an electrode for deposition of a coarse layer with a vibration frequency of 600 Hz and a pulse energy of 4.3 J and a cylindrical hollow electrode covering it from a material with high thermal conductivity and electrical discharge resistance, designed to melt roughness of a coarse layer with an ultrasonic vibration frequency of 22 kHz and a pulse energy of 10 J, resulting in high the dispersion of the protrusions of the coarse coating layer with the movement of dispersed particles into the depressions of the relief, providing an increase in continuity of up to 80%, a decrease in the processing time by 1.3-1.5 times.
