Method of measuring the total cross-sectional field of the exhaust manifold, in particular the exhaust piston engine, characterised by the limit value of the sum of the gas cross-sectional field between the piston and the cylinder, in square millimetres for the chamber tested, then in a device consisting of four interchangeable nozzles (4, 5, 6,(7) the differential manometer and the measuring valve shall be drawn with a nozzle of an internal diameter greater than the elemental limit of the sum of the flow-through cross-sectional field and the device with the nozzles thus selected shall first be connected to the measuring nozzle by means of a fixing handle and an opening with the inside of the working chamber, and then by wire through the reduction valve and the compressed a i r filter,After determining the airflow through the working chamber by turning the measuring valve drum, the differential manometer shall be zeroed and, when zeroed, the manometer shall be divided into drums and nozzles by reading the distance S of the measuring valve plate from the front of the measuring nozzle; and calculate in square millimetres the actual sum of the cross-sectional field of the leaks.
