[Abstract] The purpose of the present invention is to provide a substance and a method with which it is possible to suppress absorption of carbohydrates and/or lipids into the body without suppressing differentiation of adipocytes or promoting metabolism with respect to carbohydrates and/or lipids. [Solution] Provided are: a food composition for suppressing absorption of carbohydrates and/or lipids, the food composition having psyllium husk as an active component; and a food/beverage in which the food composition is used. Also provided is a method for suppressing absorption of dietary carbohydrates and/or lipids, wherein the method involves ingesting, together with a meal, a food composition for suppressing absorption of carbohydrates and/or lipids. This makes it possible to evacuate some of carbohydrates and/or lipids ingested during a meal to outside of the body without converting the carbohydrates and/or lipids to neutral fats. In addition, it is possible to reduce the amount of sugar or neutral fats in the blood, therefore making it possible to prevent diabetes and arteriosclerosis. [Selected Drawing] FIG. 1
