Disclosed is a robot walking and climbing along an overhead line, the robot comprising a support structure (5), the support structure having a controller provided inside same, with one side of the support structure being provided with a front, a middle and a rear cantilever device (1, 9, 8), wherein the three cantilever devices are connected to the support structure by means of a cantilever device base (7). The front and rear cantilever devices are located at two ends of the support structure, and each of the front and rear cantilever devices comprises: a walking drive mechanism located at the top of same; an unfolding mechanism, a flexible rotating mechanism and a clamping mechanism located in the middle of same; and a lifting mechanism located at a lower portion thereof. The middle cantilever device comprises a walking drive mechanism located at the top of same, an unfolding mechanism and a flexible rotating mechanism located in the middle of same, a lifting mechanism located at a lower portion thereof, and a charging mechanism located at a front side of the middle cantilever device. The robot achieves stable walking and climbing along an overhead line of 220-500 kV, and can stride over line equipment, such as vibration dampers and suspension clamps, installed on the overhead line. The robot has the characteristics of a strong obstacle-crossing capability, a high obstacle-crossing efficiency, a large climbing angle, a stable structure, a light weight, simple operation and a great real-time performance.
