The present invention relates to a method for producing silver nanowires comprising the step of mixing and reacting a metal salt containing silver, a water-soluble polymer, ammonium bromide, a non-metal nitrate, and a reducing solvent containing two or more hydroxy groups in the molecule. The silver nanowires manufactured by the method have a thickness distribution of 20 nm or less, and exhibit a transmittance of 90% or more with a haze of 1% or less at a sheet resistance of 10 to 150 ohm/sq., which is useful for manufacturing a transparent electrode.
