A method for producing a silencer assembly for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine comprises the measures: a) providing a muffler with a muffler housing with a circumferential wall elongated in the direction of a housing longitudinal axis, b) providing a housing casing for the muffler housing with a casing contour adapted to an outer circumferential contour of the circumferential wall and a connecting edge (46) for connecting the casing casing (26) to the circumferential wall, c) arranging the housing casing (26) in a connection positioning encompassing the peripheral wall of the silencer housing in such a way that the connecting edge (46) lies against the peripheral wall, d) firmly connecting the connecting edge (46) of the housing casing (26) to the peripheral wall of the silencer housing.
