摘要

Since dental bleaching is one of the most used treatments in dentistry, this study has as propose to analyze using the scanning electron microscope (SEM) all the changes over the enamel surface of extracted teeth when they were treated under this conditions: group C: chlorhexidine at 2.2% and group D: Sodium hypochlorite at 5.25%. After these teeth were conditioned with hydrogen peroxide at 35% which is the bleaching agent. The two fragments of groups A and B where part of a control group and they didn’t receive any king of bleaching treatment. The fragments of the group A,C and D were analyzed at SEM and as results were obtained images that were examined by 12 trained and experienced dentists who gave their qualification about the surface roughness, color modifications and the weight of the fragments before and after the use of hydrogen peroxide at 35%. The conclusions obtained of this study were that the use of sodium hypochlorite at 5.25% over the enamel surface before the application of a bleaching agent didn’t show any different effect compared with the conventional treatment using chlorhexidine at 2.2% before the bleaching treatment. In the same way, the color and the weight studies showed that there weren’t a significant modifications when were compared the sodium hypochlorite and the chlorhexidine groups before the application of bleaching agents.
