The energy use of the Travis Buildingat Austin, Texas was analyzed using the DOE2.1B building energy simulation program. An analysis was made for the building asspecified in the building plans and asoperated by the personnel currentlyoccupying the building. The energyconsumption of the building was comparedwith the energy consumption of the buildingmodified to comply with the proposed ASHRAE90.1p standards. The base design and theASHRAE design of the Travis building wereevaluated in Brownsville, Houston, Lubbock, and El Paso to study the influence of theweather on its energy consumption. Inaddition, a glass with high reflectivityand low overall heat transfer coefficientwas used to study the reduction of glassconduction and glass solar loads. Finally, the energy consumption of the modifiedbuilding was compared with the energyconsumption of the modified building whichconformed to the California energystandards.
