摘要

Thoracic bioimpedance relates changes in thoracic electrical conductivity to chanes in thoracic aortic blood volume and blood flow. Electrical bioimpedance (EB) has been proposed as a simple and readily reproducible noninvasive technique for the determination of cardiac output (CO). The absolute values of CO by EB have frequently differed from values obtained by other methods regarded as 'standard'. Its modest gain in popularity as a clinical technique appears to be related to its suggested usefulness as monitor to detect changes in CO within individual subjects as an alternative to invasive techniques, especially when serial measurements are required. There continues to be lack of persuasive data derived from rigorous clinical trials supporting the use of EB determinations of CO for the clinical management of any subset of patients.
