摘要

This report describes an experimental program charted with developing a workingprototype automatic inspection system. Contact, optical, fringe-field capacitance, and fiber-optic sensors were evaluated in conjunction with information, control and display (ICD) system software to enhance the capability of off-the-shelf coordinate measuring machine (CMM) for automated measurement of dimensional and surface finish features on aircraft engine disks adn blisks. A prototye systems was designed and built to allow definition of system requirements for the inspection system, evaluation of sensors, and validation of the ICD system. New capabilities demonstrated in the program include: (1) the ability to integrate advanced sensors to a touch trigger probe-based CMM, (2) a real-time graphical display of vestor deviations of inspection data, (3) the ability to inspect smaller edge features and at much higher speed than can be inspected by a touch trigger probe, and using a much higher data density, and (4) the ability to perform an automated surface finish inspection on the CMM.
