Documentation of Three Computer Programs Used to Assess Daily Age from the HardStructures of Animals

Documentation for the three main daily ageing programs used at the TiburonLaboratory is discussed. AGE1.EXE is a data collection program, designed to gather data from multiple otoliths and multiple transects from the same otolith. EDIT.EXE is a data edit program for the files created by AGE1.EXE. AGE2.EXE interprets the files from AGE1.EXE and produces daily ages and birthdates for the fish being analyzed. A step-by-step procedure is laid out for each program, and a description of how each program functions is included.
