We enrolled 4313 patients in a prospective study of the risks and outcomes ofmajor, elective, noncardiac surgery. Correlates of in-hospital cardiac and noncardiac complications, length-of-stay, and health status at six months were identified and, when possible, validated by dividing the study population into a training and testing set.
