摘要

In recent years biological decontamination of water and soil has becomeincreasingly popular. Several processes have been designed using this technique. One of these techniques is the soil slurry process designed at the department of Biochemical Engineering at the Delft University of Technology. The slurry process makes use of the so called DITS (Dual Injected Turbulent Suspension) reactor and one or more air agitated suspension reactors. The need for a more fundamental knowledge of the microbial oil degredation in the reactors was the starting point of the thesis. The main aim of this research project was to predict required residence times of oil contaminated soils during microbial remediation in a slurry reactor.
