Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) (formerly Intelligent Vehicle Highway211u001eSystems (IVHS)), is the application of advanced information processing, 211u001ecommunications, vehicle sensing, and central monitoring and control technologies 211u001eto surface transportation. The Maricopa County ITS Strategic Plan is an effort 211u001eundertaken by the Maricopa County Department of Transportation and a coalition of 211u001eprivate and public agencies, to develop a plan for deploying ITS technologies. 211u001eThe vision for this project is to identify innovative ITS technologies for 211u001edeployment in Maricopa County to satisfy regional transportation needs. Maricopa 211u001eCounty has outlined a process that closely parallels the National ITS Program 211u001ePlan and FHWA Planning Process. It has been carefully subdivided into eight 211u001esequential tasks. Task 4 establishs performance criteria and system measures that 211u001ecan be utilized as a standard to determine how successfully the plan will meet 211u001ethe user service needs, goals, and objectives.
