To fulfil the requirements of the European machine directive, 89/392/EC, thenoise emission of machines is declared. The prime descriptor, according to the directive, is the A-weighted emission sound pressure level. In this report, a new, alternative method approximating the emission sound pressure level by the sound intensity level has been investigated. The new method aims at being a better alternative than ISO 11202 and 11204 for field measurements.
