摘要

The main objective of this thesis is to get a better insight in the capsizemechanism of passenger roro-vessels in waves and to predict capsize for a particular design. Conditions which will lead to a capsize and parameters which play a role in the capsize mechanism of passenger roro-vessels after a collision are distinguished. In what extent the present design regulations safeguard survivability after a collision, will be evaluated. In the course of writing this report new regulations have been proposed. These new proposals will also be considered. A computer simulation model will be presented which can simulate the capsize behaviour of passenger roro-vessels in irregular waves. With this time domain simulation model it is possible to predict capsize and to evaluate the safety of particular design.
