Finite-Element Modelling of Electromagnetic Fields

This paper discusses the finite-element modelling of three-dimensional211u001eelectromagnetic fields in inhomogeneous media. For modelling the field along 211u001einterfaces between media with different constitutive parameters the family of 211u001eGeneralized Cartesian finite elements is introduced. This new family of finite 211u001eelements is constructed by suitably connecting local Cartesian (nodal) elements. 211u001eA simple numerical example is presented.
