Cloud Peak Wilderness Management Direction: Draft Environmental Assessment forthe Amendment to the Bighorn National Forest Land and Resource Management Plan

This draft environmental assessment is proposed to evaluate the effects ofmodifying current Standards and Guideline for Wilderness Management contained in the Bighorn National Forest Land and Resource Management Plan. The assessment will be finalized and a Decision Notice(DN) issued after public comments on the draft environmental assessment are received and considered. The project area is the Cloud Peak Wilderness located in the center of the Bighorn National Forest. The Cloud Peak Wilderness encompasses 189,039 acreas running down the hydrological divide of the Big Horn Mountains and is about 30 miles long and 15 miles wide. The area was included in the National Wilderness Preservation System (NWPS) by enactment of the 1984 Wyoming Wilderness Bill and the 1964 Wilderness Act.
