摘要

The Hixon Columbian sharp-tailed grouse habitat management plan area is a 27,740acre area supporting the largest and one of the last known populations of Columbian sharp-tailed grouse (Tympanuchus phasianellus columbianus) in western Idaho. This study was set up to provide a vegetation map of the distribution of plant communities, including a classification and inventory of that vegetation. The team identified 24 plant community types within the project area, several of which are either poorly or undescribed in regional classifications. A limited amount of vegetation sampling was conducted to assist in description and classification. Classification for the vegetation map is based on 13 cover types grouped into six habitat classes; sagebrush, grassland, scabland, mountain shrub, confier forest, and riparian. Two populations of squawapple (Peraphyllum ramosissimum), a BLM sensitive plant, were revisited and information updated.
