Tests to Evaluate Renstar Infrared Heavy Vehicle Brake Temperature MeasurementSystem

Tests were conducted to evaluate an infrared temperature measurement system to beused to measure brake temperatures of heavy vehicles for the purpose of assessing the operational status of the brake system. The results of the tests were used to establish the accuracy of the temperature measurements made and the usefulness of brake temperature in determining the status of a brake system. The temperatures measured using the infrared measurement system were compared to those measured using thermocouples welded to the surface of the brake drums.
