摘要

The purpose of this paper is to develop a description of a cavitating vortex at211u001evarious pressures. No consistent model for such a situation is available in 211u001eliterature. To develop such a description, systematic tests in the MARIN high 211u001espeed cavitation tunnel have been carried out with a cavitating hub vortex. The 211u001ethickness of the cavitating core and the tangential and axial velocity 211u001edistribution are measured at several tunnel press at a Reynolds number of 6.5 10 211u001eto the 5th power. The radial momentum equation is used to integrate the 211u001etangential velocity distribution to give a relation between the cavitation number 211u001eand the thickness of the cavitating core. Taking conservation of kinetic energy 211u001eand angular momuentum into account, the relation between the tangential velocity 211u001edistribution and the cavitating core diameter has been investigated.
