摘要

The evolution of the compartment concept culminated with the development ofexploration guidelines, improved interpretation and data gathering techniques, and quantitative modeling tools to aid in basin or field analysis. Patterns of cementation associated with faults in the Anadarko basin are directly related to fluid migration toward the frontal fault zone. Within the mega-compartment complex (MCC), the intensity of silica cement is highest in the fault zone vicinity. Normally pressured rocks above and below the MCC are unaffected by this phenomenon and remain viable exploration targets. Intrastratum compartment geometries are influenced by depositional style, sediment composition and texture, and diagenetic history. Petroleum accumulations in shallow Permian strata in the Cement field are genetically related to oil in deeper compartmentalized Pennsylvanian reservoirs. Faults ruptured seals and provided conduits for the upward migration of oil and gas.
